Lesson 6 of 6 · 10 min
Financial dashboards & reports
Read the Analytics dashboard and build exportable custom reports.
Two surfaces cover firm finances: the Analytics dashboard for at-a-glance widgets, and the Reports builder for custom, exportable reports.
Analytics vs Reports
The Analytics dashboard (/app/dashboard) shows configurable widgets — revenue pipeline, collections aging, unbilled WIP, outstanding, and paid this month — filterable by date range. The Reports builder (/app/reports) is where you assemble custom reports over matters, tasks, billing and more, then export them. These two — Analytics for at-a-glance numbers, Reports for detailed breakdowns — are where your real firm figures live.
-
1
Read the Analytics dashboard
Analytics (/app/dashboard) lays out finance widgets — revenue pipeline, collections aging, unbilled WIP, outstanding, and paid this month — that you can filter by date range and refresh one at a time.
Analytics widgets summarise revenue, WIP, collections, and outstanding balances. -
2
Build a custom report
Reports (/app/reports) → New Report opens the Report Builder: pick a report type, date range, columns, filters, sorting, and grouping, then preview the result before saving.
-
3
Export to CSV or PDF
Run a report and export it to CSV or PDF from the report actions. Reports are exported on demand — there is no scheduling or emailed delivery in the reports engine.
Reports export to CSV or PDF on demand; there is no scheduled or emailed delivery.
Tips & pitfalls
- Analytics widgets are date-range filterable and can be refreshed one at a time.
- Reports export to CSV or PDF on demand — there is no scheduled or emailed report delivery.
- Save a report you'll want again — set its columns, filters and grouping once, and you can re-run and export it whenever you need.
Key takeaways
- Analytics (/app/dashboard) gives at-a-glance revenue, WIP, collections, and outstanding widgets.
- Reports (/app/reports) builds custom, filterable reports over billing and matter data.
- Export is CSV/PDF on demand; scheduled or emailed reports do not exist.
